We are Beverly and Rhonda Breiser. In early 2004, while still in our 40s, we were discussing our future and what we wanted to do. I turned to Bev and said “I can’t see doing this for another 20 plus years.” We both worked in Information Technology (IT) and burn out is common in this field. Work was consuming our lives. On vacations work came along as an unwanted, annoying third party. So we decided to retire early which for us would end up being in our fifties. We saved, saved, saved and saved some more to meet that goal over the next eleven years.
This blog is about that retirement. We consider it the better half of our lives. We sold our house. Bought a newer RV. It is a 2010, 36 foot, gas powered, Fleetwood Bounder, that we named Beau. We tricked Beau out by upgrading his electrical system with 1120 watts of solar panels and three 200 Amp lithium batteries. Next came composting toilets, replacing the dinette booth with a computer/credenza work station and dinette and finally removing the sofa for a more comfortable theater sofa replacement. Yes, we added all the usual electronics gadgets like a cell booster and then hit the road.
Our retirement dream? To spend 3 – 5 years on the road visiting as many of the 400+ National Parks, Historical Sites, Preserves, Reserves, Memorials, Scenic Trails and Recreation Areas this nation has to offer. After that, a move to Spain. But that’s another story and another blog to come. For now, we hope you’ll join us for this incredible journey. We know there are tons of websites that address full-time RVing, campsites, mechanics and all the ins and outs of the rving lifestyle. This one is mainly dedicated to blogging about our National Park System and all it has to offer. Please follow along as we write about the places we’ll visit, people we’ll meet, things we’ll learn and share on the pages of this blog. And as they say on the road…Safe Travels!
